SEND YOUR SUBMISSIONS
Our web site is informative and helpful because of the
regular contributions to our site by officers and
staff of East and West Districts and Conference, and leaders of District and
Conference groups, and ministers and leaders in our congregations. The webmaster's role is to receive those contributions, design web pages
for them, and upload them to our web site.
It is imperative, therefore,
that Chairs, Secretaries and resource staff of Committees, Divisions,
Groups, congregation leaders, etc., make a conscious and regular effort to contribute items such
as important announcements, reports of activities, breaking news, and
photos of group activities, etc, or any other items that would be of
interest and helpful to our people, and therefore enhance communications in
our Conference.
Leaders
in local congregations are also invited to submit
short and concise news items about their life and work. We also welcome
photos of local churches and church activities.
HOW TO SEND DOCUMENTS/FILES?
How can items be sent to the webmaster? The
preferred method is through email attachments. Attach documents, files and
photos to an email and send here.
HOW TO SEND YOUR PHOTOS?
If you have a photo of your church building on your
computer's hard drive, forward it in an email or email attachment to our webmaster.

YOUR OWN WEB SITE
Congregations are also encouraged to put links to
their own web sites on our site. For examples of web sites in our Conference go to:

interested in having their own web site should read on:
HOW TO START YOU OWN WEB SITE
FIRST: Contact a
web site server that hosts web sites and ask about what is involved in your
setting up a web site for your congregation.
SECOND: Take out a paid or free subscription with the hosting server.
PAID SUBSCRIPTIONS:
The cost for a paid subscription is normally around
$30.00 a month. Servers hosting web sites also charge an "installation fee".
And you will be required to pay an annual fee for your domain name.
The hosting server will also give you a user name and a password.
FREE SUBSCRIPTIONS:
A free subscription is offered by some servers.
Check with your server which may offer up to 5MB of storage space. Log on to your internet server and look for information regarding a free web
hosting, or do an internet search for free web hosting.
Your current Internet provider may offer you up to 20 MB of free
space. The drawbacks with that approach is that you won't have your own
domain name and advertising banners would appear
at the top of each of your web pages. Some of those banners you might
not want to have on your church site!
A free hosting service I recommend for churches is ChurchServe.com.
CHURCHSERVE.COM
www.churchserve.com, a Christian-based Web Hosting company offering
churches free quality website hosting, will provide your congregation
with a free FTP account and 5 MB of free website space, and without
any advertising or banners.
Heritage
United Church , the Bloomfield/Musgravetown Pastoral Charge, uses the
free hosting services of ChurchServe.com as does
First United
Church, Mount Pearl. Check out their sites and get
started.
THIRD: Secure a webmaster and give him/her the domain
name, the user name and the password. You may have to pay for the services
of a webmaster, or you may have somebody in your congregation with web
design skills. Or pay to have an interested person trained as
webmaster. You will need a webmaster who will keep your site fresh and
current. Stale sites just float unobserved in cyberspace.
FOURTH: Sit down with you Webmaster and plan you site.
FIFTH: Instruct your webmaster to upload your web pages to your site.
And send your congregation into cyberspace!
